Staff Blog: Stephen M (The Great Adventure)

Hello everyone. As you all know I am new to the IVM staff and I am so pumped and privelaged I get to write reviews and interviews for you guys. So first off thanks for having me here!

On a different note, God has been calling me to the missions field over the past year. In April I will be going to London UK for a two week course through an organization called “OM” on how to sensitively share the gospel with Muslim and Turkish people. Currently I live in Canada and I have never been across the ocean before so I am excited about that. Just a couple facts about London and a few things I will be doing there are…..

-There are 1.8 Million Muslims in London. Lots of the Muslims that come to London are from other countries that are totally closed to the gospel and I have the opportunity to share it with them.

-During the outreach I will receive training in basic Islamic and Christian doctrine so I can share the gospel with Muslims in a culturally sensitive way. I will have opportunities to cook, clean, pray, and worship together with other people there.

-I will be living in a Church

-I could be doing anything from book-tables, to street work, to door to door video, to video distribution, or even the famous Speakers Corner.

I will be working in two churches in London; the Turkish/English church in North London, and the Arabic/English church  in Central London.

-During the time I am out there I will have one full day of classroom training and all the other days will consist of at least 6 hours of evangelism a day.

-I get one day off a week (Wednesday)

-We will spend lots of the nights praying up till 12 in the morning.

I just want to ask you guys if you could pray for me as I depart on this great adventure God has set before me. I thank you all so much for everything.

Your brother in Christ

Stephen

Stephen, that sounds like an amazing opportunity! Getting to travel, learn skills, and most importantly share the Gospel! I’m going to check out that organization, sounds awesome. Thanks for the post.

Plus you get to go to the UK, I have always wanted to go there :)

Dude that is mighty awesome! On my mission trips to Asia, the meetings and times shared with Muslims and reaching out to them have been the most memorable, challenging, best and touching. It’s a hard ground but definitely one that God will give you heart and wisdom for! Those lost brothers (and sisters) will meet and find the Straight Path they already pray to find – Isa, Son of God who was crucified for our sins!

    That’s awesome, Stephen!
Mission trips are really amazing times.
I’ve went to NYC a couple times, and I’ve served as a leader at a christian guys summer camp for many years.
I’m always so blessed through the experience, and I’m sure you will be as well.

One thing I would say is when you come back home, do whatever you can to keep going.
On missions trips it’s easy to see God working right in front of you, and even within you… so I’ve gotten pumped and ran with it, but then when I get home the courage and everything usually fades away. This is totally my fault, but it’s one thing to look out for.
I’m beginning to see the Lord leading me back to this. It’s easier to talk to complete strangers about Christ than it is to tell your friends and family… I need to get back on that for sure.

    God bless, dude.
    -Nate

Thanks Fusse and Nater for the encouraging words. Thanks nater for warning me about when I get back. That is something I tend to do. When I was at camp this summer I felt like I was on fire for God but when I get back to my familiar surroundings it all fades away and I need to keep an eye out for that. I need to be prepared.

  • Nater says:

    Amen dude,

I’m still trying to rekindle that fire within and get the ball rolling.
I’m trying to live for God, but it’s been quite some time since I actually shared my faith.
    and that’s not cool.
