I DO NOT understand and cannot stand the mentality of “when we realize kids don’t like us anymore, we’re not gonna tour.” And yeah, I play with ‘one of those’ bands who realizes the crowd doesn’t go for them but plays for integrity and enjoyments sake.
Good grief. Why not just play pop music? I wish bands like this would get the hell out of metal.
There are some bands I really respect like Stavesacre who may not have 50,000+ friends on myspace, no major label deal, they aren’t selling out clubs, and they aren’t selling 100,000+ copies of their latest album. But you know what, they are still chugging along and playing with passion for their music. That’s what it’s all about.
I really think God will reward those faithful to their message and that have integrity to the music they play. I’m not against pop, not at all, but metal is much too powerful to take flippantly. There is an inherent power in the music and bands like ABR have no respect for it.
“At the end of the day, a song is nothing more than a bunch of notes and chords strategically thrown together. Dont get me wrong, music is awesome but I feel there is something more to this life than writing a hit song and selling records. Anyone can learn how to play an instrument, but what good is it if you only use that talent for self gratification?”-Oh Sleeper
If ABR isnt helping kids, whats the use?
And if kids aren’t coming, ABR isnt helping.
I’d rather have someone be given the gospel and believe in Jesus Christ through the worst music ever created than have someone ignore Jesus but listen to the most intricate musical masterpiece ever created.
do your best with what God has given you.
I hate metal, but if a kid gets saved through a metal band’s message then its great.
i care more about moral integrity than musical integrity.
worst paragraph structure by me ever. more like loosely strung together thoughts.
